Antique Odd Fellows Presentation Sword and Scabbard by E.A. Armstrong of Detroit
Item Details
An antique named presentation sword from the Order of the Odd Fellows with a metal scabbard. The brass hilt of this piece features a bell-shaped pommel with relief image of a knight, a black leather-like grip wrapped in a braided brass cord, and a crossguard with quillons shaped as the three-link chains representative of the Odd Fellows, and a central shield bearing the image of an All-Seeing Eye. The blade is etched with the maker’s mark and floral images, as well as the owner’s name A.A. Collins inscribed to the center. The brass-toned metal scabbard bears relief decorations depicting the All-Seeing Eye over three pillars, an image of Moses, and the three-link chain with a halberd, with three suspension rings and a chape accented by two crossed shepherd’s crooks.
