A hand-knotted Caucasian wool long rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of madder red, indigo, clementine, walnut, cranberry, and ivory. The indigo colored field begins with a large hexagonal medallion grounded in a bold madder red, and it is infilled with diamonds, florettes, and a hooked rectilinear form. The field also features a pair of palmette shaped medallions at each end that are infilled with birds, florettes, and geometrically shaped elements, as well as tree motifs, boteh, and chandelier-like forms with hanging muska. Framing the field is a main border with a bracket and medallion patterned chain, along with florette guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a short cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
