A hand-knotted Persian Karaja carpet runner. This wool carpet has been woven in a palette of abrashed cranberry, camel, clementine, steel, indigo, ivory, robin’s egg blue, and black. . The field is patterned with alternating cruciform and diamond forms infilled with guls. The field is densely populated with stylized trees and flowering plants, animals (including lions), and birds. The minor and primary borders each feature a variation of a split leaf and flower pattern. The selvedges have been overcast in barber pole strips and there is fringe at each end. The rug is not labeled.
