A hand-knotted Persian Abadeh area rug. This rug is hand-knotted in an abrashed palette of crimson, clementine, ivory, gray-blue, brown, and black. It has a central diamond medallion infilled with a ram’s horn motif and small lobed flowers. The red hexagonal lozenge field is patterned with rows of geometric motifs, eight-pointed stars, flowers, and meanders arranged in concentric V- shapes and accented with comb edges. Each of the spandrels features a large hooked medallion surrounded by small flowers and geometric devices. The compound border includes narrow checked bands, plain bands, and bands of small stylized flowers. The selvedges have been overcast and there is natural fringe to each end. The rug has no label.
