An antique hand-knotted Persian Tabriz wool room size rug in a Four Seasons pattern. This gorgeous rug is rendered in a palette of crimson, ochre, sky blue, pine, cornsilk, ivory, indigo, cranberry, aqua, cerulean, salmon, mocha, and sage. The ornate paneled field is anchored with a central medallion infilled with a landscape scene featuring a lush lined waterway framed with scrolling curled leaves, and intricate floral motifs in bold colors. The rectangular shaped panels that make up the rest of the field each feature similar depictions, or mihrabs supported by columns, while infilled with cypress trees and floral motifs. The panels are then framed individually with a cartouche patterned border, capped with branched floral medallions. Framing the field as a whole is a main border patterned with design elements taken from the field, including niches, trees, flowers, and floral filled medallions. There is also a pair of herati guard borders, and Hamadan minor borders. Finishing this beautiful rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
