A figural sculpture and carved wood lion from Kenya. The sculpture, constructed with plant-based material wrapped around a metal frame, depicts an abstracted figure posed standing as they lean against a walking stick. Adhered to the verso is a sticker that reads ’Genuine Besmo Product, Hand Carved in Kenya.” Also included is a stylized lion depicted with its mouth open exposing teeth. This work features a smooth finish and appears to be unmarked.

Condition

- discoloration to figure; lion’s leg has a crack where it was once broken and repaired; surface abrasions on one side of lion; accretions.
