A vintage W.H. Gunlocke Chair Co. oak waiting bench with custom-made cushion. The frame features a slightly-contoured, tablet crest above a conforming, thirty-five spindle back flanked by gently-curved, open arms. The plank seat rises on three square, tapered legs in the front joined by stretchers to the three raking, back legs. The underside of the seat retains an incised mark reading ‘W.H. Gunlocke / Chair Co / Wayland, New York’ while the rear seat rail is affixed with a brass-tone, retailer’s tag for ‘J.B. Van Sciver Co. / Camden, N.J.’ Also included is a later, custom-made seat cushion in pink-red, scallop-patterned fabric.
