A charcoal, graphite and gouache mixed media drawing on paper by listed artist Edgar Yaeger (American; 1904-1997), dated 1955. The work depicts the sculpture of a female figure placed among cobblestones and delineated trees. The piece is signed, titled and dated to the lower left. The composition is presented matted and wrapped in acetate.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
