An abstract acrylic painting on canvas by contemporary Cincinnati artist Teresa Tolentino. This painting depicts rich metallic pigments over a dramatic dark background. The artist has used a heavy impasto technique in select areas, resulting in texture throughout. This piece is signed to the lower right.

Tolentino was an artistic child growing up in middle-class America. However, when she gained early acceptance to Xavier University there was no art major. Instead, she majored in Foreign Languages, which became a huge influence in her art. After working in education for over thirty years, including a professorship at Xavier University, she was finally able to begin her art career, using her entire life’s journey as her inspiration. Recently, and most poignantly, this has included her family’s struggle with Huntington’s disease.
