Vintage Federal Style Side Table by Lane and Regency Style Spoonback Armchair
Item Details
A vintage Federal style side table by Lane and a Regency style spoonback armchair. The mixed wood, table frame features a quatrefoil-shaped, crossbanded top with blocked, mahogany veneers and molded edges above a round, beaded apron. The apron has a single, machine-dovetailed drawer with a brass-tone, bail handle and the table rises on a turned, teardrop standard ending in four downswept legs with brass-tone caps. The drawer interior is marked ‘Lane / Altavista, Virginia’ and the underside is numbered ‘1006 06’ with a partially obscured serial number. The same information is repeated on the underside of the top. The lot also comes with a Regency style, spoonback armchair in mahogany. It features an arched crest above a vertical splat flanked by downswept arms ending in scrolled handholds. The padded, spring seat is covered in white fabric and the chair rises on saber legs ending in brass-tone casters. It is unmarked by the maker.
