A hand-knotted Persian village wool area rug. This rug is rendered in an abrashed palette of crimson, sepia, saffron, clementine, wine, walnut, and indigo. The bold field features a large stepped sepia toned lozenge densely infilled with numerous rosettes. The lozenge is grounded with saffron colored spandrels which feature elaborate bird motifs, branched elements, and small florettes. Framing the field are multiple borders including patterns of running dog, carnation meander, and barber pole. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends, as well as a label to the underside.
