Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Sarouk wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, deep indigo, mint, coral, ivory, saffron, sky blue, apricot, and wine. The cranberry colored field features a bold floral theme, beginning with a diamond medallion radiating with blooms and ending in pendants, enclosed with more elaborately designed flowers, and curled leaves. The field also features layered deep spandrels boasting the same theme in a palette of coral, ivory, and deep indigo. Framing the field is a main floral meander border, along with carnation meander guard borders, and a sawtooth minor border. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a short cotton warp fringe, as well as visible blue weft threads to the underside. It is labeled to the underside.
