A restrike woodblock print after Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige’s (歌川 広重, 1797-1858) Shinagawa: Sunrise (品川: 日之出) from the series Fifty-three Stations of the Tōkaidō. This print depicts a harbor lined with structures and scattered with sailboats, a pale cloudy sky hanging overhead. The print and series titles are printed near the center and the artist’s ‘Hiroshige ga’ signature is printed in the upper left. The print is double-matted under glass in a gold tone bamboo motif frame. There is a hanging wire to the verso.

Condition

- some discoloration to print; cracks and loss throughout finish of frame; abrasions and wear to frame.
