A limited edition serigraph on paper Rhombus I by Wisconsin artist Marko Spalatin. This minimalist geometric print is composed of an angular gray-scale pattern overlayed by vertical red stripes which appear to bend at the center of the composition against an expansive field of white. This print is signed, titled, and numbered 37/80 by hand in graphite to the lower margin. The piece is presented beneath glass and in a natural wood frame. Spalatin, a native of Yugoslavia, moved to the United States in the 1960’s to pursue an art career. Know for his Op-art pieces and Hard-edge abstraction, Spalatin’s work is in the collection of museums worldwide, including Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, the Tate Gallery and Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
