An Indian-inspired carved wooden sculpture by an anonymous artist. The piece depicts a man and woman in colorful clothing riding atop a camel in ceremonial attire, similar to decorative pieces worn in Rajasthani camel festivals. The female figure carries a large axe aloft in her right hand. The piece rests on a painted rectangular base with rounded edges. No signatures or maker’s marks were found.
Condition
- visible cracks to top of camel’s legs; surface wear, scratches and small nicks throughout; each figure appears to be missing an object originally held in the left hand; scattered dust, markings and accretion to surface.
