A hand-knotted wool Arab Baluch area rug. This rug features a hexagonal, stepped medallion with rectilinear leaves and florets in a palette of bright red, royal blue, and indigo, on an ivory field. Other patterns include a border or diamond forms in blue and red and a sawtooth edge. The main border consists of repeating rectilinear palmettes, and is flanked by guard borders with repeating squares. The rug is finished with a triple overcast edge and a short kilim strip, leading to the natural wool warp fringe.
