An antique Victorian Gothic Revival side chair, circa third quarter of the 19th century. The wooden frame has a faux-bois, rosewood-grained finish with burgundy, imitation-leather upholstery. It features a crocketed, cathedral back with pierced arches and carved tracery flanked by elaborately-turned finials and stiles above a padded, spring seat with S-scrolled, hip supports. The chair rises on ring-turned, front legs centered by a scrolled and carved seat rail and ending in porcelain casters.

Condition
- scattered/heavy finish wear and paint losses/flaking; finial at top of back is missing with a break/loss to back of crest just below it; left hip support is cracked/broken; rear legs have been replaced and reinforced with metal brackets; upholstery is later; one canvas support strap on underside of seat is partially detached; other scratches and nicks as would be expected with age and use.
