An oil painting on canvas titled Mountain Torrent by listed American artist Robert Maione (1932 – 1987). Portrayed with realistic detail, this work features rapids flowing through a rocky creek alongside forested mountainsides occupying the background. The painting is signed ‘Maione’ to the lower left. It is presented in a gold-tone wood frame with a black painted liner. The title of the work is handwritten to cardboard affixed to the stretcher verso.

Primarily known for his romantic landscape paintings, Robert Maione studied at the Art Students League with Frank Dumond and Frank Mason. His work has been exhibited by numerous institutions including the Berkshire Museum, the Lawrence Museum, the National Academy, and various galleries throughout the east coast.
