A hand-knotted Caucasian Konaghend wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a variegated palette of carnelian, ivory, gold, slate, taupe, and black. The field features a three box style lozenge grounded in carnelian and is infilled with Baku bracket motifs, stars, and kaikalak medallions. The lozenge is framed in florettes and separating panels of ashik, and rectilinear forms. Framing the field is a main quatrefoil motif and hooked form patterned border, along with a pair of carnation guard borders. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a wool kilim skirt with warp fringe, as well as a merchant label to the underside.
