A World War II Japanese shin-gunto non-commissioned officer (NCO) sword. Featuring stainless steel construction and a solid aluminum grip, this sword was machine-manufactured during World War II for a Japanese NCO. The diamond-pattern grip leads to a solid tsuba with a scabbard clasp; the long, slightly curved blade has an offset fuller and is stamped with the serial number 40267, and several kanji characters. The scabbard is of similar machine make and features a flared throat, a single suspension ring, and a flattened kojiri, or chape.
