A ceramic phrenology bust in the style of L.N. Fowler. This figure is molded with robust features and rests on a square pedestal, finished with an ivory craquelure glaze. It is printed with black script labels and bears an inscription to the base: “Phrenology by L.N. Fowler.” It is also inscribed with a pair of scroll cartouches and a quote to the verso. Lorenzo Fowler was a prominent publisher in the field of phrenology during the mid 19th century, producing model busts to accompany his books.
