1879 General Ulysses Grant Reception Music Hall Ticket

A dated December 11, 1879, reception ticket to a ‘Reception’ held at ‘Music Hall’ in Cincinnati, Ohio for ‘General Ulysses S. Grant.’ This thin cardboard ticket is pale peach in color and features black print, admitting the bearer of this ticket to this 19th-century event in Cincinnati history. The back side is blank. Ulysses S. Grant was a prominent United States Army general during the American Civil War and Commanding General at the conclusion of that war. He was elected as the 18th president of the United States in 1868, serving from 1869 to 1877. A native son of Ohio, Grant was born in Point Pleasant, Ohio, in 1822. Historic Music Hall was built in 1878 in downtown Cincinnati.
