A hand-knotted Persian Kurdish wool long rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of madder red, black, sapphire, salmon, wheat, wine, clementine, and rose. The madder red colored field begins with a large black grounded stepped lozenge that feature a serrated diamond pendant medallion. The lozenge and field both feature rectilinear forms including branched elements, boxes, florettes, leaves, boteh, amulets, and other geometrically shaped symbols. Framing the field is a unique main leaf and boteh border, along with a pair of meandering animal head guard borders, and checked minor borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
