Hand-Knotted Persian Malayer Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Malayer wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of sand, watermelon, walnut, indigo, saffron, taupe, rose, and sepia. The sand colored field is ornately designed with a central lobed medallion with small palmette pendants, and it features an abundance of floral and foliate motifs. The field also features vase forms to each end, and equally elaborate spandrels grounded in taupe and watermelon. Framing the field is a main carnation meander border, and a running dog guard border. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
