Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Karaja carpet runner. This wool rug features a Persian Karaja-style design in a purposefully abrashed palette of red, midnight blue, azure, ochre, tangerine and cream. It begins with a vertical row of five Karaja block medallions, grounded in azure, midnight blue and ochre. The medallions rest on a red field, which is filled with animal figures, geometric florets and abstract motifs. Framing the field are compound lateral borders, featuring meander patterns over red or blue. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with cotton warp fringe. Unlabeled.
