An oil painting on canvas titled Sunrise at Sea signed WMW. This nautical scene depicts a large sailing ship cutting through choppy white capped waves as the sun begins to emerge above the horizon in the distance. The work is initialed in the lower right corner ‘WMW’. It is presented in a blue stained wood frame with a linen liner. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.
Condition
- linen inner frame has spots of discoloration (water stains) and foxing. Painting shows alligatoring or drying cracks. There are horizontal and vertical creases at the margins of the painting from the wood frame pressing against the canvas.
