A grouping of three 15th century hand painted manuscripts of psalms. These pieces present blocks of calligraphic text with ornaments and dropped capital letters. The largest and smallest pieces are estimated to be dated 1570, including Psalm 148 from the Hours of the Virgin and Psalm 37 from the Book of Hours. The third item is from the Book of Hours and depicts the Seven Penitential Psalms. These pieces are presented in window mats with protective plastic.
Condition
- some wear to cellophane sleeve of each item; some wear to edges of each mat; slight rubbing to the surface of each smaller item; some warping to surface of each parchment.
