Hand-Knotted Persian Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian area rug. This wool rug features a classic Persian medallion-and-corners curvilinear floral design in a palette of scarlet, cobalt, pink, cream, taupe and camel. It begins with a small diamond medallion, which rests on a red field with cobalt and pink spandrels. Filling the medallion, field and spandrels are palmettes, flowers, leaves and vines. The field is framed by six borders, including a herati main border featuring meandering palmettes and flowers over cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
