A hand colored lithograph after a 1816 aquataint, likely dating from the late 19th century to the early 20th century, titled Waterloo. Conveying the French Cannon from the Field of Battle, on the 24th July 1815. This piece depicts soldiers marching through the streets with cannons and horses. It titled in plate to lower margin with additional in plate inscriptions of ‘From a Drawing Made on the Spot, July 24, 1815’ and ‘Published by R. Bowyer, Pall Mall, 1816’. It is presented in a white mat under glass in a wooden frame.
Condition
- toning, foxing and discoloration to paper; scattered stains and markings throughout print and matting; abrasions and tear to paper at lower right; scuffs, scratches, nicks and edge wear to frame; exposed nails to frame verso.
