An antique Eastern Orthodox tempera on wood panel narrative icon depicting scenes from the early life of Christ. Included are images of The Adoration of the Magi, Angels Appearing to Joseph, and the Madonna and Child. To the top margin is a Church Slavonic inscription, ‘The Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ’. To the verso is hanging hardware and empty sections where the original shponki slats would sit.

Condition

- to fair; nicks and wear to the edges of the board; extensive wear to the bottom right of the board; craquelure and chipping through the surface; large amount of wear to the top of the image; to the verso, discoloration and signs of repair.
