A 19th-century lithograph on paper after an engraved portrait of High Renaissance painter Raphael (Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino, 1483 – 1520), created by an anonymous artist. The piece depicts a portrait of the young artist with near shoulder-length curly hair and a short beard. The image is positioned above the artist’s name, which is printed in plate as ‘Raphael.’, set inside rectangular borders. The work is unsigned but includes an inscription in plate of ‘Painted by Himself’ to the lower left. The print is set against a brown backing and presented under glass in a wooden frame with gold tone finish, fitted with hanging wire to the verso. Information about the subject and work are written to the verso by an unknown hand.

- edge wear to print; toning, foxing and discoloration to paper, with staining present to margins; discoloration to backing mat; small abrasion to paper above upper left corner of portrait; scratches, nicks, loose joints and edge wear to frame; exposed nails to verso.
