A circa 1930 West African Ekoi carved wooden ritual face mask. The face mask is pierced through the eyes with pronounced facial features and curled horns representing the hairstyle often worn by girls during their ‘coming out’ ceremony prior to marriage. The mask has perforations at the outer edge where natural fibers would have been further embellishment. The mask is presented elevated on a metal stand.
