Hand-Colored Engravings After William Bartlett and Arthur L. Vernon

A pair of hand-colored engravings on paper. The first is titled Faneuiel Hal, Boston after a drawing by British artist William Henry Bartlett (1809-1854) and depicts the titular building on a busy street in 19th century Boston. The second is titled Going to Town and reproduces a painting by British artist Arthur L. Vernon (died 1917) that depicts a family loading into a horse-drawn carriage for a trip into town. In both prints, the title and artist’s names are printed to the lower margin and each is presented behind glass in a wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.
Condition
- discoloration to papers; heavy foxing to largest print; billow to papers; heavy accretions present to frames and glass surfaces; wear to edges of frames.
