Antique Louis Philippe Burr Elm Commode with (Later) Black Granite Top

Item Details

An antique Louis Philippe burr elm commode, mid 19th century. The original top is made of wood with rounded corners, and it is topped with a new, custom-cut black granite top. The dresser features four hand-dovetailed drawers fitted with flat fronts and (later) ornate brass handles with white oval cabochons. The dresser rests on a molded base with rounded corners and bracket feet. No maker’s mark.

- wood has wear, scratches, chips, dings, discoloration throughout; some loss of veneer in areas; cabochons on handles are loose; black stone top is not original to piece, has scratches, surface marks
