A drypoint etching on paper titled Picadilly Circus at Night by well-listed Scottish artist Muirhead Bone (1876-1953). This work features a bustling London street junction with blazing spotlights illuminating the nocturnal scene. The work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right, however the signature is concealed by the mat. Additional handwritten inscriptions are present under the mat. The composition is presented under glass with off-white matting, and housed in a black wood frame. A Cincinnati Closson’s label and a handwritten descriptive label are present to the verso.

Known for his etchings, drypoints, and watercolors, with a focus on industrial and architectural subjects, Sir Muirhead Bone studied at the Glasgow School of Art. He is considered the first to be hired as an official War Artist in World War I, and went on to serve as a War Artist in World War II. His work has been collected by numerous institutions including the National Galleries of Scotland, the Tate, and the Imperial War Museum, among others.
