An oil painting on canvas of American circus performer Emmett Leo Kelly’s clown character ‘Weary Willie’ by artist Donald L. ‘Rusty’ Rust (b. 1932) titled No Swimming. This piece depicts the figure standing behind an oversized ‘No Swimming’ sign with his clothes draped over the top, looking out to the distance to see if he’ll get caught. A small dog watches him from the lower left. The piece is signed ‘Rust’ to its lower right and is presented in a gold tone frame with a wire for hanging, ‘1990, Rust’ noted to its verso. The oil is the original design for a ‘seasons’ designs on a collector’s plate series.
