An oil painting on canvas titled Spring, created in 1990 by listed artist Donald L. ‘Rusty’ Rust (American, born 1932). The piece depicts famed circus clown Emmett Kelly Jr. sitting alongside his dachshund and looking sadly at flying butterflies and flowers that hover in the air around him. The image was featured in a series of Rust works in the 1990s including a 1992 Flambro Spring plate from the Four Seasons collection. The painting is signed ‘Rust’ in teal paint to the lower right and additionally signed ‘1990 Rust’ to the verso. It is presented without glass in a wooden frame with gold tone finish and gesso moulded embellishments, fitted with hanging wire to the verso.

- to fair; discoloration, light stains and accretion to painted canvas; edge wear, nicks and scratches to frame.
