A hand carved African Baule-style wooden mask. This mask depicts a face with expressive and stylized features such as exaggerated anatomical facial proportions. This piece is carved with precision and intricacy with a hollowed out form and cut-through eyes. This piece has a distressed surface finish which includes vibrant red lip accenting. This piece appears to be without maker’s marks or artist’s signatures. It is hung with a wire hanger to the upper edge of the verso.
