An oil painting on board signed ‘Lucas’. This piece depicts the site of Calvary where Jesus Christ was crucified, three crosses standing on raised knolls, the center one empty of Christ’s body. There are holes to the board over the cross where a figure of Christ may be placed. The piece is signed to the lower right and presented in a wooden shadowbox frame with three sockets for light bulbs, one in each of the lower corners and one to the upper center. There is an extension cord and plug to the verso as well as string for hanging.

Condition

- to Fair; edge wear and accretion to shadowbox; scratches and accretion to surface of painting; there are holes in the image of the cross where a figure of Jesus may have once been placed; accretion and rust to light sockets; wear to plug cord; untested.
