A hand carved African Maasai-style sculptural mask. This decorative wall hanging mask depicts a human face with exaggerated anatomical features and stylized hair texture. It has been carved with precision and intricacy to its expressive form. It is made from solid ebony wood and has a dark brown surface finish which appears glassy in contrast to the more raw wood finish still present to the verso. It is hung by a carved notch in the back. This piece appears to be without an artist’s signature or other identifying labels.
