An engraving on paper by Dutch draftsman Hendrik Goltzius (1558-1617). This piece depicts a detailed portrait of Dutch scholar and artist Dirck ‘Theodore’ Volckertszoon Coornhert (1522-1590). The imagery is surrounded by an oval border containing Latin inscriptions naming the artist and subject. It is presented behind a mat and glass in a gold tone wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- image paper is discolored and has foxing; tan background base paper has accretion and stains; nicks and scratches around the frame.
