A Theodore Alexander Neoclassical-style mahogany escritoire. The escritoire features a brass rail with spindles along the top, above a variety of small dovetailed drawers and divided compartments below. It has a pull-out writing surface topped with green leather and fitted with small brass knobs. There is a full-width dovetailed drawer below, fitted with cast metal ring pulls, and an open, curved shelf at the bottom. The escritoire rests on straight, carved and fluted legs with peg feet, and it is labeled ‘Theodore Alexander’.
