A mixed media painting on paper of a clown by listed American artist and entertainer Red Skelton (1913–1997). This work depicts a sad clown with a red nose, white lips, and black facial hair. The clown resemebles the character played by Red Skelton on television. This work is signed ‘Red Skelton’ to the left of the clown. A second signature that appears to read ‘Silyl’ is present to the right. It is presented behind glass in a brown mat and wood frame. Hanging hardware is present to the verso.

Condition

- slight wear to edges of frame; toning to newspaper; chip in glass to upper right corner; dust and accretions present to glass surface and frame.
