An oil painting on board of a colorful composition by Louis Papp (New York; 1930-2012). This painting depicts a muddled composition with bursts of orange and lavender among the green and blue. The artist’s signature is present to the verso of the piece.

Louis Papp was a New York-based artist known for his abstract, mixed media paintings. His works are often comprised of aggressive gestural brushstrokes and textural impasto rendering large-scale expressionistic compositions. In the 1970s and 80s, he was a member of the Art Students League, a renowned and respected art school headquartered in Manhattan.
