Item Details
An antique brass bound writing slope with burl inlay, third quarter 19th century. The walnut- and burl-veneered case features a hinged, slanted top panel opening to a rosewood interior with a red velvet-lined writing surface. One half of the writing surface lifts up for storage while the back edge is bordered by an inkwell and pen compartment with a hinged lid. The underside retains a label marked ‘Henri Desfossez / Rue Royale 12, / Lille.’ with a partial example of the same label on the lid of the pen tray.
