1731 Hand-Colored Engraved Map "Status Parmensis"

An antique map of Status Parmensis by Johann Christoph Homann (1703-1730), published in 1731. This eighteenth century map shows the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza. Details of the town layouts with fortifications are shown in the bottom corners of the sheet. The map is printed on thick paper with original hand color, and decorative title cartouche of shepherds and gentlemen hunting with dogs in the lower center. It is presented under glass, mounted to a black backing in a silver tone wood frame. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.

Condition

- to fair; image paper is dirty & stained; crease are prevalent throughout the image area; edges of the image paper are nicked and torn; silver metal frame showing nicks and scratches around the frame.
