Samuel Donovan ‘Don’ Swann was born in Fernandina, Florida. Swann studied art abroad in both German and Italy. He also studied at St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland. Known for his depictions of historic Americana including landscapes, U.S. Naval ships, and architecture. His art has been exhibited and housed in many institutions such the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the United States Naval Museum, The Library of Congress, The Smithsonian Institute, Washington DC, and numerous private collections. Swann was associated with the American Artists Professional League and Society of American Etchers/Brooklyn Society of Etchers.

- print has slight waviness; some accretions under acrylic glazing, including thread to lower edge of print; scratching throughout surface of acrylic glazing; wear and light abrasions to frame; some wear to verso.
