Item Details
A hand-knotted Kurdish Bijar wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, sage, sky blue, pale yellow, cranberry, rose, and powder blue. The ivory lozenged field begins with layered pendant medallions with an outer serrated edge, and double pendants. The lozenge is framed in a hooked pattern to the interior, and a barber pole design to the exterior, and it also features intricate vine-work with floral motifs and a chain of rosettes. Grounding the lozenge are sage colored spandrels that are infilled with an array of floral and foliate motifs. Framing the field is a main leaf and blossom border, as well as a pair of carnation meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
