Finely Hand-Knotted Turkish Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Turkish wool area rug attributed to Hereke weavers. This wool rug features a crisply rendered allover floral design incorporating densely patterned sprays of flowers and ferns in pale pinks, shades of blue, tan and crimson over a cream-colored field. The field is framed by six borders, four of which are floral, including a wide main border grounded in celadon and minor borders grounded in cream or mauve. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long fine wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
