A hand colored intaglio print on paper titled Arming the Young Knight after Peter Lightfoot, created after a painting by listed artist William Frederick Yeames (British, 1835 – 1918). The piece depicts an Elizabethan-era genre scene with several figures outfitting a knight with his suit of armor. The unsigned print is titled and attributed in plate along the lower margin. It is matted in blue and presented under glass in a wooden frame with moulded embellishments and gold tone finish, fitted with a sawtooth hanging tab to the verso.
Condition
- toning and discoloration, particularly to top edge; glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; wear and scratches to frame.
